1.3 Update (Bug Fixes) has been released
Thanks everyone for your patience if you've been waiting on an update from me! The last few months have been wild and busy, so I've only just begun to create more content for Beeknighted, but it will be my long term project for a while so strap in!
Version 1.3 is a very basic update to the prototype that fixes a number of bugs that people ran into, but has no significant new content yet. I'm working on a major content update that will be shared in January, possibly with its own page.
The following bugs have been fixed:
* Camera inversion has been fixed and the camera system has been overhauled to prevent collision issues and fix a black screen issue.
* Fixed a bug where when trying to fly downhill, the bee will fall while flying
* Fixed the coyote time for flying (giving you a second when you walk off the platform to begin flying) and fixed attack combo windows
* Fixed the looping music
* Added era-appropriate fog/lighting
* Randomized sounds for footsteps, attacks, leaps, dashes, and landings
* Fixed the health bar to take damage when you fall/respawn, though you can't die... yet.
The following features are being worked on (mostly in this order):
* Death (and Rebirth... of course)
* Stage hazards and enemies (and how to hurt them)
* A hop after walking off a ledge (like in 3D Zeldas) so that you have a vertical buffer to begin flying before falling. Also shortening the landing animation to avoid issues.
* Good old jars. And ways to smash them (and lift them)
* And of course, more rooms, puzzles, and items, chests, and generally more content
Here's a hint for where we're going: With regards to the death system, you might think, since the game is inspired by Souls and Zelda, that I'll be going with a loss of items/body retrieval. That is not the plan. While my ultimate goal is to have combat which has the precision of Souls, Beeknighted WILL NOT be a Souls-like in terms of difficulty or mechanics. If, at a much later date, I feel it necessary, I will add in an easy mode and a hard mode for those wanting those options. I want to stress that even though I do love Souls and Souls-likes, Beeknighted is not a Souls-like, and I'd like to defray comparisons whenever possible.
